The sound is much better than what you would expect from the tiny speakers. Its decent for use outdoor use, and unless you're standing next to a waterfall you should be able to hear your music by the pool. The bass is not as loud as some competitors but you can hear it fine, the mid and treble compa...res with the others just fine. I was pretty scared about dropping it in water at first so I tried it without the ipod. NO problems at all. then i did it with the ipod inside. NO problems at all. my only gripe is that it cant go more than a meter underwater but i dont think i'd really want to do that anyway.
